PNG Browser Configuration

Q: I can't see the enter site logo! What is wrong?!
A: Well to start with, you are probably running Internet Explorer. Because the PAD Industries website uses transparent PNGs Internet Explorer has blocked them as malicious "active content". Of course, this is utter crap. This is because Internet Explorer does not natively display PNGs with transparency and a special bit of code needs to be run to make transparent PNGs show.

Q: Well how do I fix it?
A: If you are running Windows XP SP2 then all you need to do it click the "Information Bar" that pops up when the page loads and click "Allow Blocked Content".

If not you need to tick the "Allow Active Content to Run in Files on My Computer" checkbox, which you can get to by going into the menu "Tools"->"Internet Options" (a dialog will open) then clicking the Advanced tab. (Its down the bottom). This is VERY unsecure and it is suggested you upgrade to SP2 instead.

Q: Why do I have to do this?
A: Because Internet Explorer does NOT conform to web standards. It does its own merry thing, and disregards the web standard that browsers should be able to display transparent PNGs. So a code hack is necessary to get around this.

Q: I don't want to have to click the damn bar every time! What can I do?
A: Switch browsers away from crappy Internet Explorer. Both Opera and Firefox conform to web standards and are more secure, and faster browsers. Do yourself a favour and get one of them. (I personally recommend Opera. It is faster than Firefox but it is ad-supported.)

Q: Why can't I "click here" in the EVE Ingame Browser?
A: Because EVE has such a shocking ingame browser, EVE will crash trying to view this perfectly well coded page. You don't want that.
And yes, this page is valid 4.01 HTML Transitional. Proper and webstandardy.
